Thu, April 9, 8:00 am
- Because of Easter weekend, the DEADLINE for this week's quizzes is moved to next Tue, Apr 14, 8am.
- After Easter, we have only 3 class periods left.
- The final exam will be roughly 50% on confidence intervals and hypothesis tests.
The other 50% will be on material from the two mid-term tests.
Tue, April 7, 8:00 am
Thur, April 2, 5:00 pm
- Grading is done. You should have gotten an email with your test and current average grades.
The median test grade was 83%.
- After this week, we have five more daily quizzes. Please continue to check this page
each class day for your notes and assignment.
- Essentially 80% of the course is done, and the final exam is 20%.
Suppose your current average is 77, and let x be your final exam grade.
Then your overall average for the course is a weighted average: 0.8(77) + 0.2x.
Here are some examples - you can use your own average in place of the 77.
- What if I get 100 on the exam?
.8(77)+.2(100) = 81.6 (B)
- What if I get 90 on the exam?
.8(77)+.2(90) = 79.6 (C)
- I need a C to get into the nursing program. What do I need on the exam?
solve .8(77)+.2x = 70 to get x=42.
- I will take the class pass/fail. What do I need for a D ?
solve .8(77)+.2x = 60 to get x=-8. In other words, you don't need to take the final exam.
These assume you don't lose or gain any ground with your remaining quizzes.
- Check your university email about the option of taking classes pass/fail.
Consider the above examples to help you make that decision, and let me know if you'd like my advice.
- I hope everyone is safe and sound as we ride out this virus. Read Psalm 103.
Let me know if there's anything I can help with.
Thur, April 2, 8:20 am
